Despite the time of year, there is still no snow on the Seward Peninsula.
Observation by Judith Daniels:
Resources from the local village say that usually by the end of October there is enough snow to use your snowmachine. Other people say usually by Thanksgiving they can go snowmachining and hunt caribou. But this year we still have no snow.

The effects of climate change are certainly experienced all throughout Alaska, all year round. This observation is a perfect example of how these impacts are not consistent because, as reported by UAF's Alaska Climate Research Center, 2012 was actually reported to have colder temperatures and more precipitation than the average for many locations around the state. The Center's Annual Statewide Summary provides more detailed climate data for 2012.
